The movie was not great. I don't like action movies that much but I'm expecting some good fighting scenes since this is a Marvel movie. I was disappointed. It was mostly talking and I don't understand half of what the actors were saying. I should watch this with subtitles next time.

**A long format review from 2011** So, Thor has only been out for a week and a half, and already it’s grossed $100 million! Pretty fucking good considering it hasn’t even been released in America yet, where like, every movie ever makes most of its money. As you may have guessed, yes, I did finally get around to seeing le Thor, hence the delay in my review of The Incredible Hulk. But know what? Fuck you man! I just watched fucking Thor!! So in case you couldn’t guess, I was rather damn impressed with it all. Why? Well boys and girls, strap your tolerance boots on, this one could get long. The Computer Graphics were some of the best I’ve ever seen. Now I’m not one to believe that CGI is the sort of thing that could make or break a film, but having it be this fantastic goes quite a ways to helping out. I also was unfortunate in my having to watch it in 3D, and yet it was worth it. This is a pretty big statement from me. I despise 3D… I even walked out of the cinema not feeling nauseous. A tad headache-y sure, but that was it. So congrats Thor. The comic relief was powerful. In that “funny but not silly” kind of way. I mean, it’s all a bit silly, but it would have been so easy to fall into the cheesy trap with this film. The writing team and director Kenneth Branagh (The Boat that Rocked, Sleuth, Hamlet) did a fantastic job of keeping the audience engaged and not descending too far into shameless, lame, self-parody. The characters of the film were written almost as strongly as they were in Iron Man 1 & 2, not quite, but they did have quite a number more to work through, so they couldn’t work with everyone as well as they did with Tony Stark and Pepper Potts. They also managed to totally pull off an American movie with romance and comedy, in a way that totally avoided those awful American Romantic Comedies (my least favourite genre in the history of ever). There’s this whole thing where Thor comes from another world. Which was after all really the only way you could bring a God into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has been so grounded in reality. And I’ll tell you, Asgard (Thor’s home planet) was fucking great. They pulled off this crazy similarities in appearance between family members on Asgard, despite the fact that none of the actors are related. You may disagree with me on inspection of posters and whatnot, but after seeing the movie, you’ll get what I mean. Also the actors they got to play the younger Loki and Thor were eerily believable. Like, to an actually kind of scary point. I wonder if any of it was fake… The Frost Giant homeworld of Jotunheim is also visually stunning. The sound effects were very confronting. I couldn’t really figure out if I though this was a good or a bad thing… It’ll be interesting to rewatch on DVD, and see if it was only so crazy because of the speakers in the theatre. Thor may have lacked the wholeness as a film felt by Iron Man 1 & 2, or The Incredible Hulk, but it was perfect as a lead up to The Avengers, which, now that it’s all set in stone, is really kind of needed. With Thor more than the other heroes it’s the most important, because there was really no way to humanise that sort of character, he’s just so outlandish that you really need an entire film just to ground him in this world they’re developing. But all of the things I’ve had to say about the film were basically leading up to this one big thing; the cast! The cast was incredible, not only did they manage to snag a total of THREE of my favourite underrated actors ever, one of them just so happened to my favourite actor in the whole wide world, Ray Stevenson! We have Australian (fuck yes Australia!) Chris Hemsworth (Home and Away [Hey! We all have to start somewhere, right?], A Perfect Getaway, Ca$h, Cabin in the Woods) playing Thor, Natalie Portman (Black Swan, V For Vendetta) playing Thor’s love interest; Jane Foster (lots of people have started having a problem with Natalie Portman nowadays, but I still love her), Anthony Hopkins (The Rite, The Wolfman, Beowulf, Red Dragon, Hannibal, The Silence of the Lambs [Yes, this is the same guy who played Hannibal Lecter. I fucking know, right!?] Bram Stroker’s Dracula) as Thor’s father; Odin, Stellan Skarsgard (King Arthur, Exorcist: The Beginning, Beowulf & Grendel, the Pirates of the Caribbean series, Angels & Demons) as Dr. Erik Selvig; Jane Foster’s mentor, Ray Stevenson (Rome, King Arthur, Outpost, Punisher: War Zone, The Book of Eli) as Thor’s friend, and member of the Warriors Three (above); Volstagg, Jeremy Renner (S.W.A.T., The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, 28 Weeks Later, The Hurt Locker, The Town) as Hawkeye; the S.H.I.E.L.D. sharpshooter, and Samuel L. Jackson (The Exorcist III, Jurassic Park, Jackie Brown, Shaft, Pulp Fiction, the Star Wars prequel trilogy, S.W.A.T., Snakes on a Plane, 1408, Cleaner, The Spirit, Inglourious Basterds) as S.H.I.E.L.D. Director; General Nick Fury… And those are just the actors I already adore. I’ve now also grown quite attached to Tom Hiddleston (Wallander) who plays Loki, Thor’s brother, and the main antagonist, as well as Joshua Dallas (Doctor Who and The Descent Part II) who plays another of the Warriors Three (above), and Kat Dennings (Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist and Defendor) who plays D’arcy Lewis; Jane Foster’s friend and colleague. As I always like to say, I watched this film in a theatre (Belcompton, shit, uh, Belconnen, Hoyts to be specific). I really think this film has lasting value, but it’s important to note that I almost always feel a film is enhanced when watched on the big screen, especially with Action films, effects films, epic films and franchise films. Thor happens to be all of those things. I was especially excited waiting for the post-credits scene to come up in that huge cinema. So please take into consideration that I reviewed this on the silver screen, if you happen to be watching it on DVD or BluRay or some such. Because you better of not fucking downloaded it!! Damn scum… 80% -Gimly

I was surprised to see Kenneth Branagh directing a big budget comic book film, but as the film continued to explore a Shakespearean tale between two brothers feuding, the relationship with their father, and a coming of age love story, I realized this is exactly the kind of movie Kenneth Branagh would make. I really enjoyed Thor. It was funny, exciting, and different from the usual superhero ilk. And it definitely got the MCU back on track after the dismal Iron Man 2.

When I sat down to watch this movie, I was prepared to enjoy it. I like superhero movies, and I heard a lot of good reviews. I don't agree with any of the critics I listened to before watching. The beginning is actually ok. The visual effects are good and the action is partially decent (at least at the beginning). The only reason I enjoyed this movie was because I was laughing so hard. Not at any "jokes" though. I was laughing more at this movie's incompetence. If you are one of the surprisingly numerous people who enjoyed this nonsense, I'd appreciate it if you actually read my points on why this movie is terrible. -The romance takes place over the course of about a day, and during most of that time Thor and Natalie Portman are nowhere near each other. Like, she runs him over with his car, they have a few brief conversations, then all of a sudden Thor is crying over the possibility of never seeing her again. It feels stupid and rushed.-Thor doesn't really do anything to deserve the hammer. Like the stupid love story, this character arc (I was told it was supposed to be one) feels incredibly rushed. What they could've done instead of what they did is have Thor live on Earth for at least a month. They could've shown Thor learning how to live among humans, slowly realize the errors of his ways, and come to regret what he did. Loki's attack could've something that took a while to do and by the time he got around to it Thor could've been ready to defend humans because he actually cared for the species. There could still be the big dumb boring action scene at the end, but at least him getting back the hammer would be deserved. I'm not saying that this would be perfect, but it would be a hell of a lot better then what they went with. -There's a lot of continuity errors. The shots themselves are good, but when they come one after another - not so much. It kinda takes you out of the movie when it goes from broad daylight to night to sunset and back to day over the span of a few sentences. -Nothing makes any sense because nothing is ever explained. Powers/abilities aren't explained. None of the technology is explained (and by technology I mean the alien stuff not human technology - though there is some stuff with Natalie's cellphone that makes little sense but that has more to do with how stupid the characters are). Fight scenes have little tension and aren't fun not only because the characters are unrelatable and the fights themselves are poorly choreographed, but because you don't know what the characters can DO. -The pacing is weird and a very simple plot is made difficult to follow through a very bizarre narrative. -All the government officials are stupid. I get that the doctors were stupid as a joke (I think it was supposed to be a joke) but SHEILD is supposed to be a group of elite government officials. Why is everyone working for them dumber than a sack of bricks?-There are so many plot holes concerning Loki that it makes my head hurt. Just try to think about his plan, and when various pieces of information are revealed to him. IT MAKES NO SENSE.-Thor's friends are all stupid (literally) and underdeveloped. All the characters are underdeveloped, but Thor's friends are practically caricatures. They're annoying and they shouldn't affect the plot as much as they do. Also, ALL the characters are stupid. Everything in this movie is incredibly dumbed down to the point where nothing makes any sense. I don't know a lot about how this movie was made, but everything feels very rushed. This movie could've been decent with an extra half hour of run time, better actors, and an editor who understands editing. The only people who seemed to know what they were doing were the camera people and whoever was in costumes/makeup/effects.

*THIS REVIEW IS EXCLUSIVELY FOR NON COMIC BOOK READERS*This film feels just like a rushed introduction to Thor before we got Avengers. It has some good parts, some bad. I have some mixed feelings about it. It isn't intriguing as the previous three MCU films. I really liked Iron Man, liked The Incredible Hulk to a considerable extent, didn't like Iron Man 2 much but it had some intriguing stuffs going on though overall it was a hot mess. Thor wasn't as messed up as Iron Man 2, but it doesn't have the elements which would make it a real "fun to watch" film. It is just there for the sake of being there. It didn't feel like they were trying something. The major issue I had with this one was the transition between the tones - Shakespearean fantasy on Asgard and the "fish out of water" comedy. These two did not really cohese well with each other and when we cut from Asgard to earth and back, it feels like two different films going on. I prefer the Shakespearean fantasy stuff rather than the earthly part. It would've been much better. These two barely tie up well, which just creates a mess. Rather than some genuine stuff, it gives more time to unnecessary explanations of the realms using physics. And within two or three days Thor and Jane fall for each other .... which feels stupid. The plot device for this film is literally Jane accidentally hitting Thor with her vehicle. Loki's plan to kill Laufey to prove his father that he can be the king of Asgard seems really off the beat. It is one of those twists that we wouldn't have minded not seeing. A twist should've escalated this to some higher level but it doesn't. It just feels like "well .... okay" sort of thing. The fish out of water comedy is just lame. Calling Mjolnir as "Myau Myau", Hubble's law as "Hooble's law" and nonsensical jokes were all it had to offer. It didn't really feel funny, even though it tried. It feels there's something lacking, it feels dull in a bit of cringe-worthy manner. There's no chemistry between the characters. This film is overly dead serious at unnecessary points and horribly fails at being funny. There are some likable things as well. The casting is GREAT. Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster were great (even though the romance and overall chemistry between Thor and Foster cannot be appreciated). The Shakespearean touch in the Asgardian parts were really appreciable. The second twist of the film Loki not dying and getting on earth to retrieve tesseract was better than the previous one. But, it was in the post credits scene lowering its value. Speaking of Loki, he is not really a type of "THE" villain, but is still the best MCU villain so far. Hiddleton as Loki was the best part of the film for me. All in all, it is a clichéd fest. Feels good and quite disappointing at the same time. Obviously, there is the involvement of S.H.I.E.L.D. and all, which makes it feel like an advertisement of Avengers, just like Iron Man 2. I found it pretty exchangeable with Iron Man 2 on the whole, with less entertainment value. Nothing was special. The story it was trying to tell and the ideas put in it were not unlikable, just doesn't feel right. Score : 6/10Grade : B

I refuse to support this or any other film funded by the enemy of my people to blaspheme our history, heritage, and mythology. They chose to cast an African as a Norse God DELIBERATELY for this purpose, and not just any god. For several reasons, they chose Heimdallr particularly to mock the Germanic people with this lie. I wonder if we will ever see a biblical drama where Abraham, Issac, and Jacob are portrayed by black actors, or a biopic where some blonde Irishman is cast as Shaka Zulu... I know the BBC has something in the works to use African actors to portray Greek heroes now. This is the purposeful cultural marxist destruction of our heritage. Not only are these demonic "elites" replacing us in Europe, they are replacing us in our own mythology. And most of you just don't care, or even yap like brainwashed Pavlovian dogs at those of us who do care, calling us "racists" in support of the enemies of your own people.

The origin story of The Mighty "Thor" is revealed of how Thor become a superhero and a team member of "Avengers" he was a stripped of his powers and banished to earth. I like the film it is a good film but is not my favorite MCU or my favorite origin film. It is a dark sci-fi fantasy about good VS evil and how arrogant and cruel god of Thunder becomes a good heart person.Thor banished to Earth from Asgard, stripped of his powers and his hammer Mjölnir, after reigniting a dormant war. As his brother Loki plots to take the Asgardian throne, Thor must prove himself worthy. His brother Loki betrayed Thor lied to Thor that he's dad is dead while he was alive in a coma at sleep. Loki took the thron of Asgard and make sure that Thor never returns home. Now is up too Thor to get his power back and returning home to Asgard to stop Loki with help from his friends. Directed by Kenneth Branagh and the script was witten by Ashley Edward Miller, Zack Stentz, Don Payne. Thor is a good origin movie decent, solid movie good performance from Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Kat Dennings, Jaimie Alexander and Clark Gregg. Music was by Patrick Doyle. I like Superman The Movie more, Captain America: The First Avenger, Iron Man and Ant-Man which are all origin story's that I enjoy it more. My favorite Marvel hero is Captain America. So I prefer Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Iron Man 1 and 3, The Avengers, Avengers Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Spider-Man: Homecoming, The Punisher (2004) movie those are my favorite MARVEL films. Clark Gregg is in this movie and he reprises his role as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson from the Iron Man movies and his performance in the movie is excellent. Here we first time see Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton Hawkeye with bow and arrow I wish we would have see more Renner's Clint Barton in the movie. Chris Hemsworth is good and excellent as Thor the mighty god of thunder. I love Natalie Portman as Jane Foster a scientist who becomes love interest of Thor and she helps him out trough harsh times. Jane Foster is a sexy babe man Natalie Portman was so hot that time, I am in love with her. Stellan Skarsgård is great as Erik Selvig. Kat Dennings as Dracy Lewis is a babe and I love her so much. Jaimie Alexander as Sif is an excellent warrior great performance from the actress. I always enjoy Tom Hiddleston as Loki in "The Avengers" and in the sequel Thor: The Dark World. Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins are also In this movie. I like how Thor comes to earth and he is strapped off his powers from his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and banished from his home Asgard. Thor has to get back his powers by getting his hammer back. I like the sequence in which Thor fights off 20 agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in which Thor jumps with his legs in a wrestling match and kicks the guard to the ground. I love the scene and the music in which Thor try's to lift his hammer but can't. I love that Jane asks Erik to bail Thor out. The fight scene in New Mexico Thor fights off Destroyer in the town and get's his power back excellent bad-ass scene. I like that Thor tried to get back things from Jane Foster that Phil Coulson from S.H.I.E.L.D. stole all Jane researches. I enjoy the romance and the love between Thor and Jane.A good decent solid superhero flick I enjoy it and I like it, not a bad one for the first movie in the trilogy I like it a lot. 7/10 not bad, not bad at all ,good MCU superhero movie.

It remains only to marvel at the company Marvel, which gives an impressive amount of money for the implementation of films on their comic books under the guidance of "newcomers" in the genre of "summer blockbuster." Four years ago they did this with John Favreau, who previously filmed family comedies and yet surprised many with his "Iron Man". Now, the honored actor and director of the dramatic cinema and theater Kenneth Brana demonstrated miracles by taking off a large-scale fantasy comics epic.ActorsChris HamsworthTaking advantage of the tested scheme (to take on the role of the protagonist of a little-known actor and surround him with "loud names"), Brana did not lose. Chris Hamsworth is the perfect Thor! Possessing not only impressive physical training and memorable appearance, Hamsworth was able to convey the power and emotions of this character. In some places it is threatening, in places it's funny when it's necessary to be gallant. Yes, and in general, throughout the whole movie you penetrate to the Torah sympathy and you empathize with it.Natalie PortmanAs always, she is charming and charming. The first falls on the Torah and runs after him all the remaining time :)Anthony HopkinsWorthy performance of a worthy role. The first experience of Hopkins in the film kinomics was a success.Tom HiddlestonSly, a jealous manipulator. Another one hundred percent hit in the role!Jamie Alexander, Ray Stevenson, Joshua Dallos, Tadanobu Asana and Idris ElbaWell-written characters, which should still be given a little more time, because each is interesting in its own way. ActionIt is many, it is diverse, large-scale, beautiful, impressive and fascinating. The best episode is the battle of the top five warriors with the Ice Giants and a huge monster.Special EffectsLooking at the trailers it seemed that the "Thor" would not be particularly pleased with the special effects, for both the monster's drawing and the Torah's hammer in action were not so impressive. But fortunately, the effects brought to shine and you can with full confidence to say that the "Torah" is the most grandiose special effects from all the films Marvel.LocationsAh, this Asgard! He is beautiful! Incredibly beautiful and the viewer is not satisfied with the monotonous views of the city. In each of Asgard's places shown, there is something unusual and unique. And the more interesting are the transitions from the deserted quiet town of New Mexico to the majestic palaces and structures of Asgard throughout the film.MusicPatrick Doyle has proved since the time of "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" that he is an excellent composer, skillfully combining different musical styles. The "Torah" is mostly dominated by pathos and heroic music, but in times of dramatic moments, sad compositions play.HumorHumor in the film is not as much as we would like. But he is funny and in no way slips into jokes below the belt. True, it would have been more ridiculous to beat the scenes of "God Tor in the modern world among ordinary people."PlotEnough fun and interesting without obvious stupidities and sagging. Although Torah's "rebirth" was worth paying more attention.SurprisesIn the film, a lot of Easter eggs for fans and attentive viewers. Starting from the most obvious (mentioning the Hulk and the Iron Man), ending with the hidden ones (Falcon eye). And at the end of the final credits, the audience expects another bridge to the upcoming "Avengers".Undoubtedly, the most beautiful and grandiose film Marvel. Excellent entertaining summer movie. Satisfied should remain both the audience and the fans. I want to wish the studio to continue making films about my superheroes with the same love and warmth.
